What cause or charity are you most passionate about? I'm currently reading Everything Is Illuminated as well as getting through a book about the science of what makes people annoyed. I read on my iPhone, Nook and regular books with pages. It's like a banana pie!Įverything! I'm obsessed these days. Greek yogurt, half a banana, a tiny bit of toasted coconut and one graham cracker. When we eat sweets every night, it's easier to keep my weight down by cutting down on cravings. We also eat goat's milk ice cream every night we're home, topped with Greek yogurt and other goodies, like cherry jam, chocolate chips, small pieces of cookies or cake. I'll sacrifice health before taste, but these days it's pretty easy to get both. ![]() We do have tortilla chips, but I buy the tastiest ones with the least amount of salt and fat and the most fiber and protein. Most of the things in the kitchen are exactly what you see on those lists of healthy foods - we just love to eat that way. Tons of grains: quinoa, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, beans, lentils, healthy high-fiber and protein pretzels and crackers and breads that we have to keep in the freezer. Fruits - mostly seasonal: berries, apples, oranges, watermelon, bananas. Tons of vegetables: kale, celery, carrots, broccoli and more. I also try to move even if it's not in exercise clothes - like a little walk with my young daughter down the street, or a leisurely hike or splashing in the pool. That all being said, I also used to do longer cardio sessions on a treadmill or outside, increasing my heart rate through sprints, incline, skipping or anything else that will get my heart rate up, but now I do shorter 30 minute cardio sessions, which fit better into my super-busy schedule. In the past I've thought of working out as a way to help lose weight, but as I've gotten more trim, I remember again and again that the working out is the icing on the cake and something I love doing no matter what my body size or shape is. Also, my weight has been down very naturally since I had my daughter, and sometimes when my weight is down, I don't do as much cardio as I should because I, like other people, sometimes over-associate working out with losing weight. Since I had a daughter, who's now 21 months old, I haven't been on top of my cardio as much. I work with a trainer twice a week doing strength training, and I do cardio three or four times a week. ![]()
